My hard drive of 5 years recently died, and I had to get a new computer. Because I do a lot of web publishing, I need a photo editor to accompany my reviews and such.
I was used to Microsoft Picture It!, which came with the Microsoft 2002 Works Suite.
When I had to buy the 2006 Microsoft Works Suite, I groaned inwardly when I saw that I'd have to learn a new program--Microsoft Digital Image 2006.
Well, I worked with this program *extensively* last night, and I can't believe what an improvement it is to Picture It!
For example, with 2002 Picture It, I had to scan items one by one...and it took quite a while. Not only that, if I didn't center the image in the scanner *just right*, I'd have problems getting it just so. There was a drop down area to adjust it by increments--but if I was off center and the adjustment didn't center it, I'd have to re-scan. What a pain! (I do a lot of Tarot and oracle deck reviews, so I do a lot of scanning.)
Well, with the Digital Image Suite 2006, a window pops open after every scan, asking me "would you like to scan again?" I scan fast...zip, zip, zip. THEN I can go to an album area and edit the pictures one at a time.
And the centering? A breeze! Now, all I have to do is click one side of the picture, draw a line, click the other side (making an even "horizon"), and *the picture automatically centers itself*. Amazing!
My scanning and edit time has *easily* been cut in half. Also, I can now put various cards in folders, instead of just dumping them willy nilly in My Photos.
If you're not used to Picture It!, MS Digital Image Suite 2006 may take some getting used to (it's not very intuitive, IMO). However, if you're used to Microsoft Picture It!, you will be thrilled with how this tool makes scanning/editing so much easier!
