Not for everyone, but just right for me

I've read the other reviews of this product here, and there are clearly a lot of negatives. Some people find this program too big, some find it too small. I found it just right. When I contemplated self-employment, I had several concerns, including whether or not I could actually keep the wolf from the door that way, but my largest was the thought that I would have to keep records of some kind. Very bulky software and not as intuitive as I wanted.

This software is very large in size and takes up too much space on my already crowded system. I had used QuickBooks earlier and found the Office Accounting Professional to have some good features but overall it is cumbersome, slow and not very intuitive in some aspects. I think it is a good solution for a home office but is not robust enough for small business use. However, the integration with MS Office is good and helps transport some of the data more easily. Powerful package that does basic accounting, template creation, customer management and online banking and eBay accounts

As a small business owner, I have created and processed my data in Excel for nearly a decade. It has proven to be adequate, although there were times when I have had to do crude copy-and-paste imports. While this product takes some time to load in general it is worth the wait. Big program!

Fun product to have but it might have more functions than most people would need. I have to agree with everyone who said this is great for those who do a lot of Ebay auctions and need it done in an organized way instead of a random hobby. For small home businesses this might be more than one can use and I think it's sort of a bucket full of programs that might not all get used. Overkill for the very small business

I operate a one-person consultancy. Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2008 has a template for consulting firms with no employees. Sounds great, doesn't it? Well it is and it isn't. I can't speak for other consultancies. Mine is very simple and this program is overkill. Installation is relatively straight-forward, although non-accountants (like me) will find the set-up just as mystifying as with any other accounting program. … more

Many features, but also very slow and bloated

I'm comfortable with software and usually figure them out quickly. Not so with accounting software. It took time and patience before I finally got the hang of QuickBooks. I thought I'd try Microsoft's accounting software since I'm comfortable with most of the company's software. QuickBooks has some clunky issues with its interface -- an area where Microsoft excels. Nice upgrade.

If you've used the previous versions, this one is no different. A couple extra features but nothing big.
