When thinking about this review, I realized how conditioned I have become in my use of Microsoft operating systems. For some time, I have been running Windows 98 and Windows ME on my machines. They all run 24/7, as I donate my computer time to the SETI@HOME and Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS) distributed processing programs. My personal usage is very heavy, as I often have many processes running when I work. Furthermore, I have a training center where I offer classes in corporate training. …

The number one problem I have with this OS is it's invasive aggressive anti-piracy aspects. While I agree 100% with Microsoft about wanting to stop all the WAREZ idiots from ripping them off - and even worse from profiting from their product, I *DO NOT* think this is the way to do it! #1 you have to call or electronically register this OS and it's CD-KEY to get it to run at all. #2 If your system configuration changes too much (I.E. new RAM, new HD, New CD-ROM etc.) then the OS will freeze up again …

I do tech support and for the last week or two practically all the calls have been about windows XP. It is a very powerful operating system, a monster that can do a lot... that is a lot of things the avg person doesn't need.This is basically a punched up 2000 system with some nice bells and balloons. The best feature in my opinion is the compatibility mode allowing old programs to run in their own enviorments. It is very useful...
