A book by Dan Brown
This book, by Traleg Kyabgon, explores Mahamudra Meditation and its relation to other Buddhist practices. It explores reality, conceptions of reality, emotions, how one should live, why one should so live, and nearly every aspect of life. It provides a path to freedom from samsara and each aspect of the path is explained. It provides insight into the nature of the mind, as well as the nature of meditative practice in general. The teachings of this book have helped me to view the world in a more positive manner and taught me techniques for developing states of love, compassion, joy, and equanimity which have helped dissipate negative states of mind. However, this book explains an attempt at attaining enlightenment, and the described states of mind are only a part of what this book has to offer. If you are interested in mediation this book offers an interesting perspective and a well planned path. There is no blind following of techniques as each purpose is explained and its relation to the other practices made evident. This book is similar to Journey of Awakening by Ram Dass, but it takes the broad ideas of Ram Dass and explains them in a way which hits home. However, if you are completely new to this subject matter I would suggest beginning with Journey of Awakening.
I hope this review has inspired you check out this awesome book! Happy readings!
