A great alternative to getting your car taken care of by the dealer
Dec 22, 2009
With car repair, I really don't ask for a lot. I have no idea how my car works, so I can't really judge what is needed in terms of repairs or maintenance. So the one thing I want above all else is basically to outsource the problem -- to have a shop I trust, and to let them figure out what I need to do. More Joy Automotive has served this purpose for me.
They almost never try to upsell you, and are continually looking for alternatives to more costly repairs. For example, I recently obliterated my driver side mirror. They managed to reuse the cover, and just replaced the actual, completely destroyed mirror. They were upfront about how much the repairs would cost, and stayed late to make sure it was done as soon as they had the part.
There are two downsides to More Joy: 1. They don't stay open very late. So you can drop your car off the day before outside their shop, but they are generally closed by 6 PM during the week, and 2 PM on Saturday.
2. Since they have to go through your dealer for a lot of parts, they are to some degree at the mercy of that dealership. For example, getting the replacement mirror took the dealer an extra 2 days -- and you can't really get upset at More Joy, as it isn't in their control.
I highly recommend More Joy Automotive for anyone looking for a trustworthy auto repair shop.
