I wish I had a Mother's Market in my town!

My mother-in-law and I have a deal: when my family and I arrive on a visit, she gives me money and I do the grocery shopping for our gluten-free foods. This may seem like a chore to some, but for me it is a treat because I get to go to Mother's Market.

Hands down, Mother's Market has more foods for dietary restrictions than any other grocery store I have been to. My shopping trips take a while, because I enjoy browsing the aisles (whereas I can go through Safeway in 5 minutes  because there isn't much there for people like me!)

They have so many different brands of gluten-free baking mixes and I always find ones there that I cannot find in any stores in the Bay Area -- my suitcase is always heavier going home! They have a great selection of frozen gluten-free breads, bagels, muffins, and buns from several different companies. They always have the crackers, cookies, cereal and snacks that I need and want for my daughter with multiple food allergies. If you are looking for a hard-to-find grain, like teff or millet, you will find it here. And of course I always pick up some new gluten-free treat for myself when I am there.

If you are dairy-free or vegan you will also be amazed by the selection of products that Mother's offers. I am always impressed when I go there because they have the latest products -- they are so on top of it for people with special dietary needs!

Mother's is also known for their fresh, local, organic produce and their extensive supplement and natural body care selection.

Unfortunately for me, Mother's in only located in Southern California, with stores in Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Woods, Santa Ana, and Anaheim Hills, but I hold out hope that one day there will be a Mother's near me!
