Now, that's a wrap! A phenomenal, healthy bread/tortilla alternative..

If you are looking for a healthier carb alternative to bread or tortillas, look no further.. The Bread Mountain Company delivers a fantastic product.  If you have been to Koo Koo Roo, the Bread Mountain wraps somewhat resemble the square lavash (flatbread) you will see accompanying your chicken.  The Bread Mountain flatbread (wraps) share the same square identity, but a bit thinner and less doughy.. This style of bread has been eaten in parts of the world for thousands of years, and after experiencing it for myself over this last year, I believe it will be for the next several thousand as well..

I use these delectable Bread Mountain wraps for virtually anything; breakfast wrap w/ eggs and avocado, filled with favorite deli meat/s and veggies, quesadilla, taco, pizza crust and even as a layered pasta substitute in lasagna.  Even though the name includes the name 'bread', it can basically be used as any of the common ways of a tortilla, but then some..

The wraps come in a variety of different flavors, all in packages of eight, depending on your desired taste and health benefits; Barley, Corn, Oat, Organic, Rice, Rye, White and Whole Wheat.  My go-to is the rye, I enjoy its flavor and the rye flour contains less gluton than the more commonly used wheat flour.  In all, the line of wraps that are offered are all pretty similar in taste and consistency, just a matter of one's preference.

Mountain Bread is an Australian company and relatively new to the U.S., so most of their references are from abroad. The wraps are featured in the UK's Sure Slim Wellness Clinic, a weight and inch loss program focused on correcting your glucose metabolism.  All of the wraps have different ingredients depending on the product, but to give you an idea, here is the stat sheet for the Rye Wrap that I most commonly consume:  one wrap - 25g serving size, 70 calories, 2.7g protein, 0.4g total fat, 13.3g carbs, 1.8g sugar, 50mg sodium.

You can find the Bread Mountain wraps at any Whole Foods, typically stored in the refrigerated section along side other similar wraps and flatbreads.  The price point is considerably higher than your standard tortillas, but as the old adage says, I believe in this case you definitely get what you pay for.  A package typically goes for $5.99, but last I was at the El Segundo Whole Foods they were on sale for $4.99.  Also, when buying in bulk of 12 you will receive an additional 10% 'case discount', which is what I normally do, they freeze extremely well...

To learn more, check out their website, www.mountainbread.com.  You will find more about why it has become such a widely popular bread alternative w/ dieters and doctors, read other reviews and view a lot of Bread Mountain recipes to help provide you with some cooking suggestions..

This is the type of product, where I think you will tell me down the road, "kjmedia, I am soo glad you turned me on to the Bread Mountain wraps, thank you" (that is exactly what I recently shared with the friend who turned me on to them, minus the kjmedia part of course =)).  So, in advance, you are very welcome ;-D - I hope you enjoy!!!

@Butter, my 5 weighting is reflective of the combination of its taste (do try the boutique rye!) and the health benefits associated with the wrap as an every day bread and tortilla alternative.. do you think Mission tortillas or Wonder Bread are featured as a recommended part of one's daily intake at the UK's Sure Slim Wellness Clinic, I don't think so my friend!! i look forward to the final rating from the creator of the Brew Johnson Burger...

I like these, but I think your 5 rating may be a little aggressive. I have only tried the wheat and haven't tried the boutique rye, so I'm holding off rating until I do so. I like them... love them. Jury's still out.

I was going to mention that, some flavors crisp a bit quicker than others when toasted, I believe the rice and light wheat may crisp faster, just have to monitor a little closer... did you try the go-to rye? Looking forward to hearing about your next foray..

After reading your review, I went and picked up some of these Bread Mountain wraps. My first foray was good, not great, due mainly to my over-crisping it in the toaster oven. I'll weigh in after more use, but wanted to let you know you're review is already creating sales for the family business.
