Good info, but I'm really not looking forward to July now.

This summer is suppose to be a real blast for gamers leaving us with some blistering thumbs. PS3 and 360 has already brought some of the noise for me with Lollipop Chainsaw and Max Payne 3 providing some nice slicing and dicing and blasting asses off the map. While Gravity Rush for the Vita really didn't live up to the hype from my point of view. The Amazing Spider-Man for the Nintendo 3DS is OK I would say at the moment. And speaking of Nintendo, well, issue 280 of Nintendo Power provides us gamers with a glimpse on some of their most anticipated titles. I found this issue to be pretty good, and although July doesn't look all that good to me, because there's only one game I could actually play. The future is looking a little better.

As always I make it a point to never skip the Pulse section, and there are some cool letters here. One column stood out to me the most asking this question, What unlikely video game mashups would you like to see?. The most interesting one was written by someone named Steve G. He mentioned something along the lines of bringing us a Nintendo Kart, a mash up between Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart. He brings some very cool ideas to the table, such as Fox McCloud using the Landmaster or Arwing in the race, and even Link using Epona (that would be one fast horse!). It's awesome to think of Samus, Mario, and Link racing through Hyrule or even the planet Zebes. Shout out to Steve G. for those bad ass ideas!

The Wii U is lightly covered here, and I really like the look of the Wii Gamepad which is loaded with different functions. They break the Game Pad down well enough, as it features stereo speakers, camera, motion control, and other things. They also mention the names of several new release games, with some coverage on 10 of them along with a screenshot or two. These are some of the games: ZombiU, Pikmin 3, and New Super Mario Bros. U.

One game called Project P-100 caught my interest more than the others, it was developed by Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe. This one sounds pretty interesting and I like the character design of the main character, who bears a heavy resemblance to Viewtiful Joe. If I do pick up a Wii U this is one game I will have to play.

Luigi's Mansion 2, now called Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for the 3DS is lightly covered. The screen shots look nice, and this is still something on my list to pick up on release day. No release date is mentioned from what I seen though. It better be worth the wait.

There are some interesting downloads with Mighty Switch Force! HD making its way to the Wii U, and this game looks awesome too. Nintendo Power interviews the creative director of the game Matt Bozon; it's an interesting discussion that isn't very long.

One download to look out for is the Game Boy Color game called Shantae, that follows a purple pony-tailed genie, as you guide her through a platform adventure. This is actually a lost game that came out at the wrong time, and a lot of people never got a chance to play it. If you have a 3DS it might be a good idea to download and see it for yourself. I remember finding some enjoyment in it about 10 years ago. I would like to play it again. There's a bunch of downloads covered in this issue with Monster World IV from the Sega Genesis being one of them.

Some of the previews caught my attention, while others just didn't grip me. One of them to pique my interest was definitely New Super Mario Bros. 2 set to be released in August. They unravel a little bit more of the game play, and it's made clear why Mario can turn gold now. The game play is said to be all about picking up massive waves of coins, but the reason for this is still kept on the low. There are plenty of screenshots for this, and I can imagine the die-hard Mario fan salivating the whole way. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is covered as well, and fans of this franchise are eagerly awaiting its release later this month. Wii owners have something to look forward to with The Last Story. They are really hyping this RPG up which is slated for a release later this summer. They didn't give a lot of detail on it, but it does look pretty. The number one game I'm looking forward to for the 3DS is Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!. It's said to be based off an animated series. I've never heard of it, and I'm still very interested in this. The wacky art style and game play description has me believing this might be a very good game.

Unfortunately, I really didn't care for the games reviewed for the month. They gave Theatrhythm Final Fantasy an 8.0, and it sounds like the music will give fans what they want for the most part. I'm just not interested in these rhythm games, and they reviewed another one called Rhythm Thief & The Emperor's Treasure. This was also highly rated and it does look nice, but along with those Lego games, in which they reviewed Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes; I just can't see myself playing these games. I had a slight interest in Heroes of Ruin, but the 7.0 rating has me thinking about putting it off for a little while.

The previews and reviews section has some nice stuff, and there are a couple of other good articles; with one featuring 5 games from 1987 being looked back on, with some of them being Metroid, Zelda, and even Pro Wrestling, which will provide an interesting read for those who remember those games. So I think this month's issue has enough interesting material to satisfy Nintendo fans. If you see a chance to pick up a copy I don't think your time will be wasted.
