I'm one of those types of individuals that when I find something that works, I normally continue using it with no intentions on ever changing. But sometimes the curiosity bug bites me, and either I'll fall victim to those pretty little bottles, or I'll just plain want to try new things. This brings me to the post shave balm Nivea for Men.
My father always told me, "if ain't burnin', it ain't workin". I have to agree here because Nivea does not burn at all, and I have to believe there's something good behind that burn for me. When I toss on an after shave, I have to feel like I just threw lava on my face, because this is the only time I see results. I get that with Brut Aftershave and Old Spice, and I never have to repeat splashes to kill irritation. However, with Nivea, I have to do just that, because the irritation does not leave after applying it.
The after shave is in a thick form, almost gel-like, with a white color. It applies easily after massaging between the hands, and then you place it on the shaved areas. The scent has a light musky fragrance that is so weak, it couldn't possibly overpower whatever cologne you choose to put on. Unless it's a really weak and garbage cologne.
The product is listed to:
- Immediately calms the skin
- Helps to prevent shaving irritations
- Moisturizers alleviate dry skin after shaving
Well I have to admit that it does none of those. My skin becomes irritated really quickly after shaving, and even after using this, it felt as if I had bugs running on my face. And almost immediately I would see the bumps coming up. This is something really aggravating for me, since I normally go months without any type of bumps on my face. I also felt my skin drying up also.
Listed Results:
- Skin looks healthy and smooth
- Skin feels relaxed and moisturized long after application.
My skin looks healthy and smooth anyway, and I never left it on long enough to see how relaxed my skin could possibly become, because I always felt like scratching with a wire brush, and I just had to wash it off and put on something else quick. I just cannot use this product and mine is going straight to the trash. I seriously wasted my money on this.
I just have to assume that it's not for me, because it does nothing for my irritations and it only makes things worse. I do have sensitive skin, but I'm not a serious dry skin sufferer as far as my face is concerned. I say try it if you're curious because it might be for you and everyone is not the same. But if you feel your face acting strange, then wash it off and don't even try to fool yourself into thinking you might get use to it.
Nivea products are known for being mild. I've never used it but I know some ladies like it. Not sure why, just because they are mild, I suppose. Still, I found trying new things had resulted in many pleasant experiences for me. :)

Even if something doesn't work for me, I will still stay check it out, because I know everyone is not the same. It would have to cause some amazing damage for me to advise avoiding like the AIDS virus.
