No Better Time is an excellent biography about the life of the late Danny Lewin. He died on September 11, 2011 at the age of 31. I have never even heard of the company he founded called Akamai, but I use Akamai technology every day. It helps me to surf the Internet in seconds. Lewin's cache technology eliminated the wait time to retrieve Internet content. I can instantly read an article, watch a video online. I can also visit a new website instantly because of Danny Lewin. He created the first cache technology called Free Flow. This technology helps people to store and retrieve information on their computers. The cache technology that is used now is called Easy Suite. I use cache technology all the time to retrieve and store music files from I Tunes.
The foundation of Lewin's work is the algorithm. I learned from the author Molly Knight Raskin, that an algorithm is a set of instructions for how to accomplish something. I enjoyed reading about Danny Lewin's early life. Lewin served in the Israeli army. He fought terrorists in Desert Storm. He hiked for many hours as a soldier, and he also worked tirelessly for hours as a computer scientist and Internet entrepreneur. I love the word Hawaiian word Akamai. The word Akamai means smart. This word describes Danny Lewin. He possessed an intelligence and a sense of discipline that I admire. No Better Time is a great book. It is a reminder that I can make a difference at any time.
