Dorms on Loyola Marymount University's Campus

O'Malley sits on the bluff of the Leavey campus, overlooking the city and Marina del Rey. Most students live two per bedroom in two-bedroom units, although, some thee-bedroom units are also available. Each apartment has a kitchen, living room, and bathroom. … see full wiki

A room with THE view

Located on the edge of the bluff, it boosts the best views of the city, sharing the same siteline as the Jesuit residence and the new library. O’Malley Apartments have tons of space around them, making them secluded, but easily accessible from both sides of campus. Unlike the Leavy series of apartments that are arranged in a circle, O’Malley apartments are spread out in an L shape.

My apartment was on a particular prime piece of real estate, bottom corner. We could see the sun set over the ocean every night from our living room window. Three fours above, Father Lawton holds his residence, so you know that it’s the best location to live. You wouldn’t notice as he is a quite neighbor, but it is fun to run into him during a Saturday night fire drill.

I’m sure this changes every year, but when I was living in O’Malley, the community was a lot less dorm-room and a lot more do your own thing. My year, our surrounding quad was SUPER quite, besides us. Public Safety never patrolled around the bluff, and the one time they did, it’s because they thought someone was trying to break into our window (when they were really climbing out of it hiding from RAs.) Even when our smoke alarm when off and we had a mini fire, no one came to our rescue…not that that is necessarily a good thing, but it shows how secluded you are over there.

The best part about O’Malley is being able to walk along the bluff every day to go to class. The sunsets are unreal, and the daily reminder of the beauty of both our campus and LA is much appreciated and will never allow you to forget how amazing LMU is.
