Nice design and build quality, but way overpriced.

This product is nicely - but not perfectly - designed and is very - but not perfectly - useful for its intended purpose.
My biggest negative is the price. Having had the opportunity to hold it in my hands and use it, I think it is worth no more than half of what I paid for it. It seems manufacturers and distributors of Kindle cases have more or less come to the conclusion that people will pay high prices. The lower priced cases, based upon an examination of Amazon reviews, seem to be of considerably lower quality.
So I bought it. I'll keep it.
The case is nicely designed. It fits tightly around the Kindle 2 and has four elastic fabric "clips" to hold the Kindle in place. Complaints? Yes, minor ones. Patagonia should have been a hair more generous in the fabric allowed for the clips, especially on the top. The Kindle tends to pop loose from the clips. The zippers are tight asnd somewhat difficult to use, however this could be simply owing to the unit being brand new. Time will tell if they become easier sliding. Neither of these shortcomings is a showstopper.
The case itself shows attention to detail. The spine is large enough to allow the left-hand side to be easily folded under the right-hand side, which makes it ideal for holding. There is a moderate amount of passing which could absorb some of the impact of an accidental drop or being packed in a suitcase or carried around in a jammed briefcase or purse. There are also cloth handles on the front and back which make for a more secure grip. In addition, there is a fabric loop for a strap or carbineer snap.
In all, this is an excellent case for using the Kindle on trains and planes, beaches and bars, wherever. There is as flap pocket on the inside of the left-hand side which could be used for a cleaning cloth or something. Personally I would have preferred an outside pocket to hold the AC adapter and/or accessories like a reading lamp. However, fulfilling my dream here might make the case a lot more difficult to use. Can't have everything.
So, overall, I think this is a good case, but priced way too high.
