Worked great ... for a year...

OK, we ordered this December 6th, 2008. It broke December 11th, 2009.

While it was working, it worked OK. It pulled in all of the local stations in HD, some better than others, but it was temperamental. We ended up having to position it near a window, and most certainly couldn't put it behind the TV out of sight, because it was constantly needing fine adjustments. It broke a few days ago. The coaxial cable screw head in the unit snapped and came off. I am fairly certain this was due to the fact that we were not using a more supple coaxial cable (like the one it came with), but a longer (and more firm) cable, so it could reach the window area better. I think the screw head was soldered onto the circuit board with a fairly light epoxy, and due to the fact that we were constantly moving it around, and worrying the connection back and forth, that it eventually snapped.

We have replaced it with the Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception.

I will say, right off the bat, that that antenna has a truly obnoxious problem with the cord not staying under the "foot" it sits on, and it is monsterous in size, compared to the cute little Phillips model. However, the Terk model is also way more powerful! I just plugged the thing in, and stuck it behind the TV (out of sight, where I wanted the last antenna in the first place) as a trial run, and wham! It brought up all of the stations without any problem, or need for fine tuning. I guess the extra size of the antenna gives it some extra oomph! It works great. But, yeah, it is huge compared to the Phillips.

So, bottom line, the Phillips one didn't work that well, had to be constantly adjusted, and eventually broke after a year of what I would call careful and light use (we only watch TV once a week, on Mondays -- and that is only during the broadcast season).

Buyer beware.
