Camping DogIf you’re planning a long trip with your pooch this summer, why not take a fence along so Fido has room to roam, too?  If you’re a camper and have access to power (such as in an RV or you have a portable generator), it’s really easy to set up camp and create an invisible wireless fence so your dog can have some freedom to explore, too.

I love to take my dogs camping with me – whether it’s for a weekend or a week.  They get so excited when they’re in a new environment with all of those great smells and sounds and places to explore.  I tend to prefer camping in the woods, so there are many exciting things for my two girls to explore.

Sadly, though, they haven’t always been able to have as much sniffing and exploring fun as they’d like in the past because I’ve always had to keep them on a long leash.  And they just hate it if I have to leave them at the campsite for any reason.  They don’t like having to stay on their leash while I go somewhere that could be interesting!  And why is it that the most fascinating item is always just beyond the reach of their leash?

Portable Fences Save Time, Money & Go With You!

Now, though, we’ve got options! According to an article on Wireless Fences, portable wireless fences are great because they can save you tons of time and money, even though the initial cost can seem intimidating.  When you think about it, though, this makes sense.  The cost of constructing a permanent fence around your home can run into thousands of dollars.  And when you’re traveling, you still have to make plans for Fido on the road.  But a portable wireless fence can be picked up, packed up, and set up in a new location with minimal effort.  In the long run, it really can save you a bundle!

Dog Camping

There are some really nice portable wireless fences available on the market.  These things are great because they’re easy to set up and take down – they’re lightweight, easy to store, and some can be customized for distances of anywhere from a few feet to up to half an acre.  If you have access to a power source, you’re good to go with just a little bit of setup time.

One of my favorite portable fences is from PetSafe.  It has a ton of features, such as:

  • Collar receiver: 2.5″ x 1″ x 1″ fits necks 6″-28″. Waterproof and weighs just 2.5 ounces
  • Collar has 6 levels of stimulation.
  • Uses camera batteries.
  • Wireless: Just plug and play, sets up in minutes.
  • The range of the Instant Fence can be increased by using two or more transmitters.
  • Covers a maximum of a 90 foot radius( 1/2 acre).
  • Portable: Can be easily taken to a new home, or while traveling in an RV.

This particular system also has some nice built-in safety features.  And it’s SO easy to set up.  The video below will show you the kinds of things to consider when setting it up and just how easy it is.

This fence is one of several that are available on The Camping Dog Supplies website.  Seriously - if you're planning a trip and your pup is coming with you, consider investing in a portable wirless fence,  They're so handy!  And your dog will thank you for it!
