Power is seductive; power is also destructive.

Human beings crave for power, no matter what their conditions are. It's like it's an innate drive, one given a chance to sprout, will grow to a monstrous scale if not properly monitored and controlled.

Corporations, countries, individuals all crave to be at the top of the hierarchy in life. That is to put it simply. It is a temptation to have power in one's hands. The history of mankind as well as different races have demonstrated this elusive nature of human's ability. Many a times, the more one craves for it, the more elusive it becomes. We have also seen it in the animal kingdom. It may well be our survival instinct depends on it (partly).

There are many outward signs of power where humans try to compete with one another (simply to demonstrate how powerful they are). We see buildings (i.e. the largest and the tallest) as soon as a country emerges to be one of the most powerful. We see transportations that are mightier and faster (war planes and bullet trains) simply because it gives those in power the satisfaction of having something to show to the world that it has arrived. Even if one is not in power, we know that most men crave for powerful car! So, yes, the concept of power is well in our genes. How much of it is enough varies between individuals but nonetheless, it exists even if we can't show for it (for now).

Is human crave for power excessive? What do you think?
Is it beneficial to mankind?
Is it a means to an end or is it merely an end?

The only answer I've with regard to power is this. Power is not everlasting until one gives it up.
It is not something to acquire but instead it is entrusted by others.
Real power lives beyond and at times given to the most unsuspecting person.
So, what's all this talk of power and why are men struggling for it?

Thanks, Adrianna! It's amazing how much power struggles there are in this world, sometimes even within the family! My friend recently told me how cunning her 2 year old niece could be when it comes to power play. Boy, kids are amazingly bright these days! Sometimes too bright for their own good!

Yeah, I agree! It astounds me as well to see how power plays work in a micro-environment, such as one's family. I'm also surprised at how cunning children are becoming these days. Maybe it's to compete with all the power plays that occur starting from a rather young age.

Children learns intuitively and by observing adults and their environments! They do get the drift even earlier than we thought!
