The book is about two sisters that are raised by their aunts when their parents are killed in a fire. They discover that there is more to them than what meets the eye. They are witches that are cursed to never find love.
This is a phenomenal book that explores the depth of love and the strength that bond has. It is based in a small seashore community where the sisters grow up as out cast, taunted and ridiculed. They grow to be strong in their own ways. Gillian is the lazy loaf who runs away from her home and hopefully the Owens name. Sally stays and struggles to find normality in her hometown and falls in love. She has two girls just like every Owens woman. Soon her husbands dies when a car full of drunk teenagers runs the stop sign. Depression sinks in.
Only the bond that the two sisters share can break the spell that was place on the family so long ago. And love will prevail.
This book is for the people who believe that love will never fail or for the people that need to be reminded of that. A little of fantasy, a little bit of magic and a bit of magic make this book on that I keep going back to again and again. It's a good summer read for the witch at heart.
