Project 365

Take one picture, everyday, for 365 days.

Project 365 started when Taylor McKnight began to take one photo a day, starting January 1, 2004.  This project involves taking at least one photo a day (if you take more, only one photo for the day is chosen to represent the day for this project) … see full wiki

Because life moves too fast!

Most of us carry digital cameras around with us when we go out somewhere that we want to document.  But me, being the camera obsessed person that I am, started bringing my camera with me in my purse.. EVERYWHERE I WENT.  So for the past year and a half, I could bust out my camera at any point in time and snap a photo of something or someone. Having enough battery though, or remembering to put the memory card back in the camera after I load photos on my computer, is a completely different thing though... =(

Anyways, one of my friends ended up doing this via Facebook, and I was super intrigued.

The minimum requirement is that you take one photo a day, everyday, for 365 days.

If you're like me, you'll take photos, leave them on your camera, then after some really fun night out where you want to share the photos, you'll finally upload everything else (and if you're REALLY like me, you'll lose some pictures because you assume you've already put them on you computer because they're old but you actually didn't yet!! That is my biggest pet peeve, but besides the point.)

The great thing about Project 365 is it encourages you to post your photos daily - I've seen a ton on Flickr.  And, label each photo with the date and a short caption and you'll be able to look back and have one memory of the day!

For anyone who wants to improve camera skills, I'm sure this will be of great help as it forces you to take out your camera at least once a day.

The great thing is your photo can be of ANYTHING - you on holiday, something interesting you happen to pass on the street, your dinner, or your typical work cubicle!! Being able to look at the photos after a month or a few months is really cool since you'll be reminded of that specific day!

My other favourite thing about Project 365 is that it encourages you to document the ordinary, most of us will take photos if its something out of the norm: holiday, a night out, an anniversary. But a year later when your life is completely different, you'll totally appreciate having something to remember your old apartment, your daily walk to get coffee, and your local bar that you head to every so often just for an after work drink.

By the time you've been doing this for a year, you won't even realize that that much time has passed - you'll be happy you've been taking so many pictures to remember your year!! It's your own little daily diary/photo journal! Try it out, you won't lose ANYTHING, if anything... you'll have a great memoir of a year - something that's seriously priceless!!

I love this idea! I heard about it about a month or so ago and was bummed that I didn't know about it sooner. I love the idea of starting it on January 1st so I will wait until next year to start. It will be fun to see my life in photos and how quickly my children are growing. Can't wait!

Good idea. Helps me get a better grip with my new Sony digital camera. I'm still more of a film guy with my "serious" photography and I think film scans make better, clearer photos than digital cams; recently I shot a few a day this week -- found some trees budding, a classic Corvair and a display of ancient piggy banks.

No, Steph, no. Nothing is ever 'too far' with us. Let's take a pic for every food item we eat every day. Omg, I'd have folders upon folders on an external hard drive just for Taco Bell menu items.

Of yourself, or of life in general? Actually, a picture a day of yourself AND of your life. Then you could see what year you aged the fastest and how much weight you gained during which season... maybe we could create graphs too based on the results.... ok, too far.

This idea sounds fantastic! I've always wanted to take a pic of myself like once a week for 10 years and see what happens, but then I'd grow hella depressed.
