Cheat Sheet: Pur Minerals for Fall 2009

It’s easy to update a softer smoky eye look with Chrome Cryolite and Burgandy Malachite eyeshadows, pairing up Champagne Citrine and Midnight Jade with that combo works really well for me!  Due to the shape of my eyes, I can’t really go too heavy-handed when it comes to the crease because I don’t have a lot of real estate on my lids– anything too dark makes my eyes look so small and closed.  Of course, if you don’t have this little issue of mine, go more intense!  Burgandy Malachite is fabulous for the crease due to it’s light-reflective qualities (burgandy & green) so it doesn’t close up the eye, it’s almost chameleon-like in these swatches below:

I skipped the eyeshadow primer since I used Chrome Cryolite wet on my lids (water), and lightly placed the burgandy in the crease and outer corner.  Champagne Citrine is a gorgeous yellow-gold, I found it to be incredibly versatile since I’ve worn it as a highlight color on the brow bone and also on the lid depending on the brush.  It’s one of those shadows that doubles up as a good sheer wash if you think gold is too much otherwise.  Midnight Jade isn’t done enough justice in the swatches in my opinion!  I love the dark green as a liner, it works well wet or dry.  You’ll find that even though Pur Minerals’ eyeshadows are pressed, they almost feel moist to the touch– but make sure to tap off any excess from your brush before holding it up to your eye!  I’ve noticed that I get a little fall-out sometimes if I’m in a hurry or I just forget.  I find that these tend to flake a little bit more off the brush at first than non mineral-based pressed eyeshadows as they are somewhat soft.  The staying power was strong on these for me, 8+ hours at a time with minimal creasing or fading.  Of course, your favorite shadow primer is additional insurance.

One of the things I like about the items from Pur Minerals that come in a compact is the little not-so-secret compartment on the bottom of the case that holds a sponge or applicator.  It’s not only cute but convenient!  Since I prefer mineral foundations for normal day-to-day wear, I love the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup (I wear Porcelain) and it travels well.  Ever tried a Pur Minerals product?  Spill it in the comments, dolls!
