A Quick Tip by djevoke

  • Dec 11, 2010
RAWA (www.rawa.org) has been fighting for Afghan women's rights since 1977. In protest of the Taliban's strict rule, they went underground, literally, building schools and hospitals so that their children would receive education and the women could be cared for medically. This is just the tip of the iceberg. An amazing organization that deserves everyone's support because they haven't stopped fighting for their country, even if their country hasn't always fought for them.

Thanks for the quick tip! You might want to check out the Afghan Women's Writing Project (http://www.awwproject.org/). It has amazing writing (by amazing women who write in secret). Heart-wrenching stories and poems.

I've never heard of that! I'm definitely going to check that out right now, thanks SO much for the heads up! Those women are amazing and their stories that I've read and heard through working with RAWA are incredible- they're heart wrenching, they're inspirational, and they're beautiful. I'd love to read more of them....thanks again!
