Rainbow E2 Series vacuum Brand New. If you've never used a Rainbow, you're in for a shock. With regular upright bag vacuums, dust particles escape through the pinpoint size holes in the bags. The water canister that sits under the Rainbow actually traps … see full wiki

Cleanliness That You Can Feel - Great For Allergies

This vacuum works with a water canister where all the dust and dirt accumulates thus preventing them from spewing back to the air.  You can actually see the dirt through the clear plastic canister as it runs like a mini whirlpool.  The manufacturer claims that the canister is made of plastic that are the same  and as tough as the material used for making footbal helmets.

Pros:
-When you use a conventional vacuum cleaner, you see dust blown all over especially if you look with the sun rays streaming through your window. You see a much big difference using this vac. One of our sons have bad allergies and this helps a lot.
-You not only see the difference, you also feel that you are breathing much cleaner air.
-No expensive bags to buy

Cons:
-It is heavy as a bulldozer. Imagine hauling it up and down the stairs. This is the reason we use this vac not as often as our regular vac. My wife has to call me to help tugging it along.
-Price - too much! We got it half price, but probably we still paid too much.
-Maneuverability. Annoying and it really needs some muscle to work with it.
-You also need to clean the vacuum every single time you use it. No, you cannot wait until the bag is full - there is no bag. It has a canister that you fill halfway with water and if you do not clean after each use, it grows bacteria and smells like a dead skunk. Believe me, we have done that.
-It is a hassle to use. Need assembly every time you use it.

am in the market for a new vacuum cleaner so thanks for bringing this to my attention! I'll see if this would fit my needs, although a heavy vacuum cleaner may cramp my style LOL!

You had me all excited with the promise of the perfect allergy solution! :) Unfortunately, you're right, the cons seem to really out weigh the benefits. I've had a vacuum with no bag before and it's a total hassle! I always feel like the dust escapes into the air when I'm cleaning it and ends up right back where it started!

I just read @foboftheyear's review today on HEPA air purifiers, have you ever tried something like this?

I love Rainbow vacuums! I used to have one when I lived with my parents, but now I can't afford to get one of my own. It is just so satisfying to see all that dirt in the water! I have a Germ Guardian Humidifier and an Ionic Pro Air Purifier to help with the allergies, but nothing can beat a Rainbow! Thanks for the review!
