Ran both the 5k and 10k yesterday in the South Bay at the Redondo Beach Super Bowl 5k & 10k. As one who runs many races, this might be the best of them all. The course is challenging, a seperate course for each race (instead of 2 5k loops for the 10k). It is hilly, so you better be ready for that. But it is a perfect mix of competitive athletes (over 100 people broke 40 minutes in the 10k) to family-oriented (baby buggy division is always fun) to silly (the costumes were out in force). Probably the biggest draw is the Asahi beer garden in the "Health & Wellness" expo, an ironic title but a great party. After downing your 2 beers before 10am you just might be inclined to spend the rest of the day in the beautiful South Bay.
Highly recommend this race to anyone who likes to run, who likes to drink, or who likes to run and drink.

The Super Bowl Race is always a fun one in Redondo Beach. The race is organized, now has chip timing ,and has a great energy about it. . The beer garden after is always a perfect end to a race and a fun way to start Super Bowl Sunday! The course is fast and it's fabulous to run along the Esplanade looking out on the ocean. Whether you run the 5kKor 10K, you'll have a great time!
If you're excited about the beer and costumes at footraces, then your mind is going to be blown if you ever check out Bay to Breakers ;P I can't drink even the tiniest bit and then run, though, because that equals breaking out in hives for me. Sounds like it'd be entertaining to watch and an overall fun event. Thanks for sharing, Brian! :)
Anyone who likes to run and drink, huh? I've heard quite a few people like the Cytomax Sports Drink post race, but beer is a new one! Sounds like a good way to get in shape and have fun at the same time:) Congrats on your accomplishment and thanks for sharing this!
