Concur with the Simmzy's breakfast burrito. I also agree with rjweber21's take on El Tarasco, however, I would add that I would get it "wet" (enchilada style). My favorite "Burrito" is actually the Machaca and eggs plate at El Gringo. You can make your own littler burritos. I love Machaca in general an El Gringo's is the bomb.

that's a great question. here's some of my thoughts.

If you want and old school, messy unhealthy but super tasty burrito, El Tarasco on Rosecrans is tough to beat. While most people grow up on El Tarasco as a late night post bar grub joint, they still deliver some solid food. The Junior Burrito Deluxe is crowd pleaser.  Here are some reviews on El Tarasco.  Along the same vein, a place that get's a lot of respect (although i have never been) is El Burrito Jr. on Sepulevda in Redondo. There is always a line at that place and i'm curious every time i drive by there.

For the breakfast burrito, i offer up the non tradition burrito served at Simmzys.  it's great... and i've reviewed the Simmzys burrito already.  Also the breakfast burrito at Four Daughters Kitchen is a very solid option.

Other options would include El Sombrero and El Gringo.  I prefer the food over all El Gringo, but haven't had a burrito at either recently.

Chains:  There are two main styles of burritos.  Steamed or toasted tortilla.  For the steamed tortilla style burrito i prefer Chipotle over Qdoba.  And for the grilled/toasted style tortilla, i prefer over Cafe Rio over Baja Fresh.

I hope that helps... i should create list of best burritos in MB.  I'll work on that.

I know it's not very boutique, but I found myself commenting this weekend that Chipotle is hard to beat around town for the best -- at least when it comes to a standard "dry" chock-full version. El Gringo has a pretty great one if you're in the mood for the cheese-laden, gut-busting "wet" version.

Call me crazy, and I know it's not only local, but Chipotle is a safe bet for a burrito. I had my first Chipotle burrito in Manhattan Beach. Get guac.

I agree that simmzys has a fantastic breakfast burrito. The scene is even better. El Tarasco is my go to lunch burrito.

I loved Amigos Tacos, El Tarasco, Wahoo's Fish Tacos and Chipotle (yes, the last two aren't strictly MB but, they are delicious!).
