Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi make such good music together. "Come See About Me" is a fun first track that just oozes with an energy that I love. "Don't Let Me Slide" is a bluesy song. This is a love song has great lyrics. It is my favorite track on an album where every song is excellent. The vocals by Susan and guitar playing by Derek are just flawless. My other favorite cut is "Midnight In Harlem". The vocals and guitar playing sounds very smooth on this song. "Love Has Something More To Say" has a funky retro tone to it. I love the horn playing on this track very much. "These Walls" is a beautiful song about a woman trying to hold her life together after her husband leaves. This song really moves me. "Shrimp And Grits" is a groovy instrumental that is about a minute and a half long. This track showcases Derek's talent as a guitarist."Until You Remember" is a very pretty song about waiting for a lover to return. The simple guitar chords are just lovely on this song. "Bound For Glory" is an upbeat track that makes me happy. Simple Things is a slower tempo song that makes me reflect on my life and my level of happiness. This song is very deep. "Learn How To Love" is the best rock and roll love song I have ever heard. This song is definitely one of the highlights on "Revelator".
"Shelter" is a song about finding a sense of security with a loved one. The background vocals by Mike Mattinson and Mark Rivers is very good throughout this album. These guys could make and sell records based on their talent alone. They are soulful moving singers. "Revelator" is one of the best albums of the year.
