Recently, I've felt the economic pinch, as I'm sure the rest of you have. My problem is that I am trying to save up for a trip to Europe, without sacrificing my flawless complexion. So out of complete curiosity (and the suggestion of several acquaintances both professional and nonprofessional) I decided to test out Revlon ColorStay Foundation.

There are several problems when it comes to finding the right liquid foundation for anybody. My personal concerns are:

1. I'm incredibly fair because of my Irish decent. I have this unusual blue/red undertone, with blotchiness around my cheeks.

2. My skin texture sucks hardcore. I'm so dry that I can literally throw on sun block and still need more moisture and emollients.

3. I can have very harsh reactions to new products with unknown ingredients. Once I tired an anti-aging serum with retinol from the drugstore, and it made my skin start shedding layer after layer, until I was down to my flipping dermis. It was so painful that's why I am always discerning when buying new products.

After three weeks of use I can honestly say that I am pleasantly surprised. I purchased the lightest shade (Ivory) in the normal/dry formula (yes they have a normal/oily formula too). The coverage was moderate, even when I was stippling to build coverage. The color was perfection, but I will eventually have to cut it with a darker shade for the season change. Overall, I can say worth the $10 and the $30 I'm saving each time I buy!

Any suggestions on budget skincare? I'm back to Kiehl's...which I consider budget compared to my beloved La Mer ($200 a pop).

It is such a great feeling to find a beauty product that actually has value and is priced right! Sounds like you and I have the same skin: super sensitive and dry. I just started using the Cindy Crawford Meaningful Beauty skin care kit. It is only $29.95 for a 30 day supply (which you can strech for about 2 months). Very soothing, calming and hydrating.

It's good to know that drugstore brands can hold their own compared to department store counterparts. I gotta say, I've had pretty good luck with Kiehl's, like their Creme de Corps.
