A stretch, but the first thing that came to mind was Judge Death from the Judge Dredd comics, an undead entity from another dimension that realized that crimes are committed by the living, therefore LIFE was a crime and he and his three fellow Dark Judges committed genocide on they're dimension, leaving it to be called appropriately, "Dead World".
