Simple Dreams is a great memoir of Linda Ronstadt's life and career. She is best known for her pop hits from the seventies like "Blue Bayou" and "Your No Good." But, she has recorded two best selling Spanish language albums. This is some feat because she could speak very little Spanish before she recorded them. This is a sign of her intelligence. Her versatility extends to opera music. Linda has performed in Pirates of Penzance and La Boheme. I have never any music from these operas before. I am anxious to see video clips of her performances because of this book. Linda has such respect for every musical artist and producer she has worked with.
Linda has never written any of her own songs she has performed, but she possessed the ability to interpret songs and make them her own. I admire this about her. She makes references to performing songs like Tom Petty's "The Waiting" and the classic song "Walk Away Renee". I have never heard these two songs performed by Linda before. Each song title in this book is like a new discovery that I can't wait to listen to. I love the photos in this book The photos show a young drop dead gorgeous Linda in different stages of her life. I absolutely love looking at these pictures. She is just sexy performing as she is when riding a horse. Linda makes a reference to a book entitled The Vagabond by Collette. This is about a young actress performing in the theater in the early twentieth century. I have theater aspirations of my own,so this book is just the kind of read that can inspire me to pursue my dream. Simple Dreams is a reminder that Linda Ronstadt is one of the greatest singers of all time.
