The crockpot's (or slow cooker depending on what you call it) claim to fame has always been these two things:
1. You can "set it and forget it" and 2. You can make "one pot meals"
For me neither of those things had ever been possible before I found the Slow Cooker Mate. Why not you wonder? Well first of all in regard to the claim that you can "set it and forget it," I have owned about four crockpots in my young adult life and each one proved to cook way faster and hotter than the setting read. I don't know how many times I cam home from a long day at work to have burnt, shriveled up meat that was all stuck to the bottom of the crockpot. Great. I come home starving and tired and now I am soaking and scraping out the inedible meal I had left to "slow cook" that morning. Secondly, I am not sure that any of those "one pot meals" actually came out decent. More like a shriveled up roast with soggy mushy potatoes and carrots soaking in the bottom. Appetizing right?
Enter this amazing new crock pot find- the Slow Cooker Mate. They say the best inventions are those that solve an everyday problem and this is a prime example. This crockpot has two separate parts that all fit together to actually slowly cook a one pot meal- go figure! There is a base (the part with all the controls), a large crockpot insert, a stoneware insert that is divided into two sections, and then the lid. The clencher for me is the fact that you can keep your sides like those potatoes and carrots I mentioned separate from your roast and all it's cooking juices. Brilliant! Now you can actually cook an edible one pot meal!
What else I love: -The divided stoneware insert is actually big enough to hold a generous amount of potatoes or veggies enough for my family of 4 easily. - This baby can be thrown in the dishwasher, microwave, and even the oven. - Even after paying the shipping charge for this bad boy it still rolls in for under $125.00
If you cook a lot of meals in a crockpot, I highly suggest you check this out!

This is an absolutely fabulous product featured by Tori. I must admit that prior to my Slow Cooker Mate I had never owned a crock pot, in fact I frowned on the idea of coming home to a meal of mushy vegetables and wet meat. But now you can actually cook an entire meal! Besides roasts and stews, I've found that casserole dishes hold up very well. I highly recommend to any/all, whether you are a working/stay at home mom/dad, single or simply have a hectic schedule.
My 20 year old slow cooker just cooked it's last meal and had to be retired! I'm so getting a Slow Cooker Mate this time around! No more soggy veggies! :)
