If you're doing much biking or camping this summer and you have a small dog, it's easy these days to take them along! There are so many products available these days that make it easy, comfortable and safe to bring along your small friend. If you're taking a trip that involves travel, there are several things to plan for when traveling with your small dog according to WikiHow:
Find a campground or hotel that allows dogs -- and many do these days.
If you're taking your bike and traveling by car, bring a dog bed for them and things that smell like "home" - a favorite blanket, a favorite toy, and the like
Have a "doggie stuff" bag for things like extra collars, leashes, and "doo bags"
Whether you're staying in a hotel or a tent, make one corner of the space your dog's space. That's where their bed and favorite toys go.
Stick to their normal bathroom schedule. The more you can stick to their familiar routine, the more relaxed your dog will be.

Products: Pet Carriers, Strollers, Rollers and Slings
There are some very clever small pet carriers on the market these days. Everything from pet shoulder carriers, bike carriers, and slings. I just added a section on The Camping Dog Supplies site that includes some really clever designs!
Bike Baskets and Carriers
Pet Gear makes a bike carrier that is really clever! It's a 3-in-1 design that lets you use it as a bike carrier, a shoulder carrier and a car seat! I'm a big fan of multi-functional products! It comes in some seriously fun colors. This is a great choice if you're planning a combination of biking and driving. It converts quickly from bike carrier to car seat to carrying bag.
Another nice bike carrier for pets under 15 pounds is from Snoozer. I like this pet bike carrier because it's a lightweight microfiber that comes with a safety harness, tons of storage pockets and a removable rain cover for those quick summer showers. It comes in two very bright colors for easy visibility. I like this because it includes so much room to store things -- and when you're traveling by bike, that's important!
Pet Carrier Backpacks, Rollers and Slings
If you're a hiker or a biker, there are some really nice small pet carriers that can be worn as backpacks, rolled along behind you, or carried as a sling. Some photos are below, and if you're curious about learning more, simply click on the picture to see more details.
