An unwelcome form of behavior online and in real life.

A Quick Tip by woopak_the_thrill

Having a cyber-stalker is very annoying. Stalkers are different from Spammers.
Then, these stalkers pretend to not know what they are doing and say “I am sorry, am I not supposed to do that?”

Now for those stalkers who are in denial, stalker behavior can comprise of the following (if a stalker doesn't know):
  1. Keep ‘following’ someone even when it has been made clear by that someone that he does not want to talk or follow you. They also stalk your write ups and take any topic you create; despite what they say that they don’t or when they are blocked and is blocking you in return.
  2. Stalkers consistently try to comment on the other person’s thread, even when their opinion is not wanted. Stalkers also block the person so that he could not reply to them after they provoke the person. Please: you don't like someone, stay away from the profile!, it is common sense.
  3. Stalkers also message people everywhere in social media even when they are not met with a reply. From FB, to Linked in, to twitter, stalkers want your attention, they will try to find you since they have this very obsessive quality
  4. Stalkers also create different accounts and email to bother whomever they are stalking. Even when they are blocked.
  5. Stalkers also try to act that they don’t know when they are ‘stalking’ and when you try to tell them off or try to make them see their issues, they would say you are “bullying”. They would also try to report you when they have succeeded in provoking you. They like turning things around.  They also like to place blame on others than accept responsibility for their actions.
  6. Stalkers usually have one thing in common. They need attention and they do not have girlfriends/boyfriends. They usually are so lonely and angry with themselves that they'd like to make others angry They try to act ‘friendly’ and some are smart but they are so dumb to know that they have become the very person they say they are not. Another thing that boggles, the mind, even when blocked, suppressed or deleted, they still hang around a website. Really to what purpose?
  7. Stalkers may have the intelligence or sense of a 6 year old, and the insecurities of an adult, and so excuse them to still stick their noses in somewhere it does not belong. Funny thing is, stalkers then find a reason to justify their actions--"hey, only 4 or 5 people complained about me among 10,000"... wake up, you offend 1 person directly and consistently, that would be more than enough to be seen as harassment.

What to do when faced by a stalker:
  1. Ignore them.
  2. Stalkers already have been suppressed and so report them right away to push the site to fully delete their account. Chances are that they've been warned more than once and are already under probation.
  3. If worse comes to worst, keep everything documented.
  4. And then, Fight fire with fire. (if nothing else is done)
Oh, yes, Lunch.com had suppressed many a stalker, but sometimes technical issues make it difficult to fully delete them. (But they are working on it) Time is the one thing we need.
