How do you deal with people who can't tell Star Trek from Star Wars? I had a Lieutenant Commander's uniform, from Star Trek Next Gen, and several people gave me puzzled looks and wrong answers. My reaction is usually shaking my head and rolling my eyes, but that does not seem to work, LOL.

Just give them a big ol' smile, maybe a pat on the back and say, "Greetings Starfighter! You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the Frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada." That should really confuse them!

Meh. I know it's frustrating, but, at the end of the day, I don't make too much of it any more. I enjoy both franchises, to be honest, so maybe I'm a bit more tolerant of idiots.

I slam my head into the nearest wall a few times so that I may lower my IQ enough to be able to explain the differences in ways the other person can understand.

I try to be patient and explain the difference, but only for a short time. If it takes more than a few minutes before their personal bulb lights, then it will not happen. I either politely change the subject or politely change the scenery.

Ask them how to say good bye. "May the force be with you "or "Live long and prosper." Was you father a Vulcan or was your father a guy in a quasi-nazi helmet who breaths badly?
