If you're looking for a great artist with a classic country feel, but a contemporary sound I've found your guy in Michael Cosner. Having started playing guitar at age six, his musical career started young, like many great artists do. His musical influences growing up were traditionalists such as Merle Haggard and Ronnie Milsap. As a part of the band Native Son, Cosner opened for the like of Gary Allan and Wade Hayes. From his influences to those he has performed with, you get a little bit of all of that in his EP Stay Country.
The Stay Country EP, which is available on iTunes now, definitely puts Cosner on the maps. His smooth country voice accompanied by traditional instruments is a great combination. He let's the songs speak for themselves - he doesn't try to over produce or fill them with effects. While many artists are trying to head to traditional country or more pop-country, this is one artist staying right down the middle. Here are a few of my favorites:
"Dogs Love To Ride" - An early favorite of mine is a classic song about man's best friend. The car ride isn't all for the dog, however "if it weren't for him, I'd have no social life at all." This fun song is a great track to keep memories of man's best friend.
"Stay Country" - The title track, yet also best in my opinion. The lyric video above is great to show the meaning behind the song - "Stay Country because country is what you are." No matter what life throws at you, there is only one thing to do - Stay Country.
The five song EP is on iTunes for $4.95. It comes highly recommended by me. If you chose not to buy now, be sure to keep up to date by following Michael on twitter (@MichaelCosner1) and like him on Facebook (Facebook.com/michaelcosnermusic).
