In my youth, I was a voracious reader of superhero comic books, both the DC and Marvel lines. The Kryptonite asteroid that was destroyed left behind many smaller fragments of the radioactive rock. Since Superman is extremely vulnerable to the rock, Batman dives into the river to investigate it and comes upon a small space shuttle with no one inside. Later, a disturbance takes place on the surface, and there's a young girl with Superman's powers causing a bit of destruction. A very good debut story which re-introduces Supergirl to the DC Universe, after meeting her end during the Crisis On Infinite Earth's storyline back in 1985; with very solid characterization and beautiful artwork. You're looking at a must read here. See full review here.
