I get to post this little review for anyone living in Santa Cruz whose life is FULL and full-on, for whom it would be heaven-on-earth to come home to an awesome, organic evening meal procured & prepared by someone else. And not just any-someone else. This is Liza.
I met Liza a couple years ago when she had just come from an extended stay at Esalen Institute - we happened to both be in the same house, our stays overlapping and we grew a subtle yet swift appreciation of one another. Since that time our paths have crossed periodically, almost every time in our local natural food store, and once when local green businesses sponsored a screening of 'No Impact Man' movie.
So I can say I have followed the sweet story of her carving a niche locally as a conscientious organic chef, providing wholesome meals for families/professional couples. In the last year, her business has grown to the point that she graduated into professional kitchens.
Now I am inspired to post for reasons beyond
organic
fresh
wholesome
delicious
And it is this: Liza has a way of being that I might best describe as loving-kindness-mindfulness. Maybe you will get this transmission from her website video -
Anyone who saw the movie Like Water for Chocolate might remember the tears in the wedding cake. The results of that were dramatic(!) but it's a case in point; I have long been convinced that how a person feels preparing food is actually a relevant component in the food.
Liza has developed her meals-to-families service simply through her abiding interest and passion in food made from the finest ingredient the Earth can produce. That is to say; her joy is organic....; is that in the food; you betcha!!
