This is one of the most tedious mountains to climb in China. However, it's also one of the easiest if you take the short-cut by taking the cable cars up instead! Still, there are some climbing to be done at the top but it is a lot easier than Huangshan (another famous mountain in China). Personally, I find Huangshan a lot more interesting even though Taishan has its religious and historical significance. It seems that this is where the Emperors would come and pray in the olden days.
Renowned for its cultural importance and one of the 5 Sacred mountains in China, Taishan is famous for its awesome sunrise. Many hikers will climb the mountain from the base just before midnight and will reach the top just before the sunrise at 5+ am. It's not easy though and those who did it will only do it once (mostly).
