A Celebrity-Style Facial at Home: Tammy Fender Epi-Peel Formula No. E-517

Tammy Fender is a Palm Beach aesthetician with clients like Julianne Moore and Alicia Silverstone.  She is known for her holistic approach and custom created products.  You can get a taste of this with her new line of products - although they won't be custom blended for you, you can try some of her most popular formulations.

I tried the Tammy Fender Epi-Peel Formula No. E-517.  It's a scrub and mask and comes in a small jar and smells delicious!  Rosemary, lavender and spearmint give it a delicious scent, while kaolin clay makes it a very thick.  After washing my face, I scooped out a tiny bit and rubbed it on.  It has a soft, grainy feeling that exfoliated as it rubbed it on.  Then I let it sit until it dried and then rinsed it off with a washcloth as directed on the jar.  I was surprised that it left an oily residue on my skin and that lots of scrubby granuals stuck to that residue.  I had to use a cotton ball with a little astringent to get all the grit off.  The moisturizers that were left on my skin were enough that I didn't need to apply a moisturizer after that.

The next time I used this product I strayed from the directions and washed my face after scrubbing on the mask and allowing it to dry.  My skin felt great that time and didn't have the residue leftover.  It felt soft, smooth and moisturized.  Since I'm prone to breakouts, I was worried that the oils in this mask would aggrevate my acne, but it didn't.  Even the first time i used it, when it felt like an oily residue was left-over, I didn't have any breakout problems.

With all the natural and organic ingredients in this product, it's only good for 90 days after opening it.  That helps explain the small jar.  The directions recommend using the product 2 or 3 times a week - at that rate, you should be able to use the entire jar before it's past its peak of freshness.

This isn't a chemical peel. I have pretty sensitive skin and didn't feel any discomfort when using this product. I think you can only get this on TammyFender.com for the moment (or her spa in West Palm Beach). It's a bit pricey at $80 for a pretty small jar.

This sounds really great, but I've never tried a chemical peel before, and it sounds like a harsh process. After use for 2 or 3 times a week, do you find that it "hurts" your skin at all? I'm wary of making my skin feel more tough than it already is.
