A Digital Camera
This is a great backpack for your SLR camera and lenses. It's not huge, but you can fit your essential camera equipment along with your other essentials. The camera fits in the padded lower compartment, which has a room for two more lenses. The upper compartment is large enough to fit a travel book, rain poncho, emergency kit, or whatever else you carry on your little expedition.
I like that it looks like a regular backpack: doesn't look boxy and also doesn't say "I have expensive stuff in here!" It also has a waist strap to help with the load. One thing that I didn't like is that the camera wasn't side loading, so it takes a little more time to load/unload your camera. I got away with just using the center quick-release-buckle without fully zipping up, in the areas where I know I want to take lots of pictures. But it always made me worry that something might fall out. At the time of purchase, there weren't any side-loading backpacks. Later, I saw an ad for Lowepro side-loading backpack. You might want the check that out also.
