A Scary Situation that Could Happen to Anyone!

This was a book that held me from start to finish. Gwen Ferris is a recently promoted supervisor and needs to give Steven Tarbell a not so glowing review. He takes it really bad and later attacks her in the parking lot with a knife and promises to harm her if she doesn't revise his review. Gwen is afraid to go to the police and decides to contact her company Pace) to report him.

Pace assigns a security detail to keep an eye on Tarbell and tells Gwen to accede to Tarbell's wishes and change his review. They claim that they need two weeks to monitor Tarbell and build up a case against him. Gwen reluctantly goes along but when one of the security agents assigned to watch Tarbell at night, gets compromised, Tarbell is able to do what he wants undetected.

With the secruity man powerless to act against Tarbell, he is able to attack Gwen and frame her for wrongdoing. Pretty soon Pace security no longer believes her and her job at Pace gets sunk.

Gwen is on her own with a maniac threatening her family and threatening to sink her more. To top it off, a man who had attacked her several years prior is coming up for parole and it looks like he will get out from prison.

I really liked thia book and didn't want to put it down. I kept waiting for Gwen to possibly get the upper hand on Tarbell but he seemed to always be a step ahead of her. This was a frightening situation that could happen to anyone who gets into an argument at work or needs to deliver a bad performance review to an employee. The only reasons I didn't give it the full five stars is that I couldn't believe that Gwen didn't go to the police after she was first attacked. Also, it was ridiculous that Tarbell was able to get into Gwen's office several times unobserved. It would have been extremely easy for the security team to put computer cameras on Gwen's office and they seemed to base all survellience on human observation and no technology. Lastly it seemed like Tarbell was easily able to bypass whatever cameras that the company had and the company being one that developed drugs, you would think it would be super secure to protect their research.
