A good film soundtrack sets the tone for a film.  This soundtrack to the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo does just that.  Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross provide diverse instrumental pieces.   The soundtrack begins with the track Hidden In Snow". This piece creates  a feeling of dread and tension in the film.  I love the percussion instrunents featured here. "What If We Could" is a lovely somber piece played on the piano.  "Pinned and Mounted" is an seductive piece of music with a powerful drum beat.  "Is Your Love Strong Enough" is a hauntingly beautiful song performed by a singer named Karen O. She also covers the Led Zeppelin classic "Immigrant Song". This song pumps me up. It is the kind of song that sends a jolt of energy through my body. "A Thousand Details" is a track with a intense tone. "An Itch" is another dramatic suspenseful piece of music.  I love the techno sound to this track. I'm not a musician.  I can't detect all the instruments in a piece, but "The Splinter" has a lovely eerie quality to it. "Perihelion" is a track that describes a spot on a planet that is closest the sun.  This tone of this track fills my head with feelings of wonder and fear.  It makes me think  about all the things floating around in the universe. Reznor  and Ross deserve another Oscar for their superb work scoring this film.
