Maxis has just announced that they are currently the first telco in Malaysia to offer the new Nano SIM card which will fit nicely in the newly announced iPhone 5.

Designed to be 30% smaller and 15% thinner than the existing Micro SIM specification, this smaller SIM card will free up space in a phone for other more critical components including additional memory or larger batteries.

Maxis also reports that the Nano SIM continues to use the same smart card chips as existing SIM cards and is backwards compatible too.

Starting 24 September 2012 consumers can get their Nano SIM cards at Maxis Centers in KLCC, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Sunway Pyramid and The Gardens as well as in Queensbay Mall in Penang and Danga Bay in Johor Bahru.
