Must do for Harry Potter fans; if you aren't a fan, or don't really care, probably not worth the efforet.  Some notes about our experience:
  • The WWofHP is all the way at the back of Universal's Islands of Adventure park.  Go through the Dr. Suess section and walk past the Poseidon ride.
  • A one-day, one-park pass is about $80.  If you aren't interested in anything else at Universal (we weren't) it isn't a cheap ticket.  If you don't ride the Dragon rollercoaster, you are basically paying $40 a ride for the Hogwarts and Buckbeak rides, plus a chance to spend money in the shops.
  • Universal did a nice job capturing the feel of Hogsmeade.  We really felt like we were there.  The shops and streets are very well done.
  • However, the streets are narrow and the shops are small.  It will be hot and crowded.  Find a shady place to rest and watch people.
  • The line for Olivander's Wand Shop gets long quickly for a wand to pick you.  Unless you really want that experience, skip it and buy your own wand at another shop or the cart in front of Hogwarts.
  • The souvenirs are reasonably priced, not jacked up for the park.  You can get things at the same prices that are available online, so enjoy the shopping experience.
  • The Dragon roller coaster is very intense.  Only roller coaster experts should attempt it.
  • The Hogwarts ride is also a quite intense combination roller coaster/motion ride.   If motion simulator rides make you queasy, this one definitely will.  I spent most of the right with my eyes closed to keep my stomach from flip-flopping.
  • The line for the Hogwarts ride will get long very quickly.  RIde it as soon as you get in.  But the walk through Hogwarts up to the loading area is great.  the DODA classroom, Dumbledore's office, moving pictures, the greenhouse, all good stuff.
  • Everyone in the shops and rides were energetic and in character.  Watch the Hogwarts Express train for a conductor to come out for pictures!
  • Go to the Three Broomsticks for lunch early (we were in before 11am and glad to be out of the 95-degree Florida heat) the Great Feast makes a good meal for four or more, and of course you have to try the butterbeer.

All in all, we enjoyed our time there.  The feeling was fun, just be prepared for large crowds and small public areas.  Universal really needs to expand the street and add some more rides,

And get there early to ride the Hogwarts ride.
Hogwarts Butterbeer mustaches at the Three Broomsticks!
