I'm a bit of a cookie fanatic. I think they're the best food on the planet, nutritionists be damned. But if I get them from Trader Joe's, then they're good for me, right? And, more importantly, if you get one of the little plastic buckets of cookies, then you get a bunch of cookies for a very low price.
The Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, at first glance, wouldn't be the cookie connoisseur's first choice. After all, why pick them when there's regular chocolate chip cookies, as well as Even More Chocolate Chip Cookies? The reason - cause they're better in taste, texture, and amount of chocolate.
First of all, despite being small cookies, they feel sturdy. A handful makes for a bridge between meals, or occasionally, if particularly lazy, a meal on its own. That's probably thanks to the oatmeal.
Second, both the other types of chocolate chip cookie are a little bit too crunchy and cry. These are still dry and crunchy, but the dryness and crunchiness are not the defining characteristic. That would be the chocolate. These little cookies are fairly unassuming to look at, at least at first, but they have a remarkable chocolate taste to them that most other cookies just don't manage.
So they're sturdy, chocolatey, and affordable in bulk - everything I want in a cookie. I'll grant that occasionally I try the other kinds of cookies cause I like variety - but this is the one I come back to.
