While I do get pretty nostalgic for this game, that's NOT the reason why I'm giving it a 5. I'm giving it a 5 because this game had just about everything that makes a great videogame.
The art direction was awesome, the storyline was competent, the gameplay really tested how good you are with its enemies and your adventuring skills for keys and other items, the weapons were imaginative and awesome, and for the time (1998), the graphics were really good. With many FPS titles today being derivative of each other, we need another shooter like Turok 2 or at least, an HD reissue of the N64 Turok games.
Finally, I'll say that nothing screams "awesome" like blowing up those yellow dinosaurs with a Scorpion Launcher or Grenade Launcher (with lots of gore) and their dismembered bodies screaming as the last traces of life exit them.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was a great game, used to play it all the time during breaks at school and at home. and I recently had the chance the play the second game, I loved it. a great tip
I remember it taking awhile for me to get into this, but it wasn't any fault due to the game. Turok 2 had the misfortune of being released about the same time as Ocarina of Time, and I was far more into that. The first Turok was excellent too though. I might replay it.

You should give it a shot again, and thanks for popping by.
Turok is so bad ass! My experience with Turok is more on the comic books really but I bet the games are awesome.

If you have an N64, track down copies of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil for some over-the-top, brutal FPS action and intensive adventure.
