Urban Decay Naked Palette

Naked Palette

I’m late to the game on this one, but it’s not for a lack of knowledge or trying. The Urban Decay Naked Palette has been out of stock for months. I originally asked for it as a birthday present but when Christmas came around, my mom opted to combine the two holidays and spring for a sweet ass monitor. NO COMPLAINTS. *hugs monitor*

Anyway, my friend Annemarie tipped me off that the Naked Palette came back in stock on Sephora.com – so I quickly ordered it before others became aware of its return. Never mind I signed up for notifications from both Sephora.com and Urban Decay. I never got the notification from Sephora, but I did from UD eventually (about five days after I ordered it.) I didn’t even Tweet about owning the Palette until after it was delivered (to my neighbor, you lazy UPS man!) Now, at long last, it’s mine! Dahahahahaha all mine!

Urban Decay - Naked Palette

Normally I would link to better blogs for swatches, but this time I thought I’d actually give it a go.

Naked (this was the most difficult to swatch)

Half Baked

Props to you bloggers who swatch all of the time. What a headache that was.

I love them all, but if I had to play favorites I would say that buck, smog, sin, naked and darkhorse are my go-to shades. I haven’t had a look that required gunmetal as of yet, but it’s an interesting enough shade that I could work something out. These colors are the perfect blend for the every day out look I’d like to achieve – and the best as I can describe it is the everyday eyeshadow that Natalie Portman’s character, Nina, wears in Black Swan. When she isn’t performing, I mean.

While I’m not fond of the original UD Primer Potion formula (I use Eden) I swatched the colors over the Urban Decay PP since its included with the palette. Also included is a dual sided 24/7 glide-on eye pencil in zero (jet black) and whiskey (honey brown). I used Zero to darken my brows for a bit of fun, and it does indeed glide on very smoothly. I don't particularly like it as an eyeliner because it transfers after a bit and spots around. Whiskey, on the other hand, stayed in its place when I used it on my lower lash line and it was easy to use as well.

What I love most is that Urban Decay covered the whole neutral rainbow, as it were, and I don’t have to go scrounging around for every little pan or jar of shadow. I love having matte colors, too, because I lean more towards a matte look than sparkly when using neutrals.

The Naked Palette runs for $44.00, and its one of the few make up purchases I never hesitated with or looked back on with doubt. Had I the energy, I would use this every single day and as it is I use this the most when I’m out and about during the day.

I wish most of my cosmetic products are like this one... I mean "never hesitated with or looked back on with doubt"! I'll have to look out for this one the next time I go to Sephora! Sounds like a great product!

I'd recommend calling ahead if you're going to make a special trip or just order online. If online is out of stock, all of the stores will be too - so sometimes it's just easier to order online when it's in stock :D
