The Valco Trimode was our first stroller. It is a great outdoor stroller. We used ours with our first son since he was a newborn (with the bassinet). The bassinet is plush and came with a raincover so our son was very comfortable and warm in it despite the harsh Chicago winter. My husband loved the rugged good-looks and I loved that it was so well-made and steered so well. We liked the fact that it could easily convert to a double with a toddler seat or a hitch hiker. Now that we have two kids, we still use it with the hitch hiker. We've had it for 3 years now.
The stroller seems indestructible. Very well made, stable and strong. I like that my kids are riding this tank. LOL. They seem so safe in it. The seat is very plush and padded and has a newborn "pillow". One of my favorite things about it is the gigantic basket. I can load it with lots of items regardless of the weight.
The stroller comes with a bumper bar, rain cover and tire pump. The fabric still looks new after 3 years of heavy use. We have a black one. The stroller has one of the tallest seatbacks available so our 41 inch 3 yo still has room in it. The front wheel swivels but can be fixed as well for light jogging.
The Valco Trimode is definitely an outdoor stroller. It is wide and heavy, so we do not like to use it indoors even though it fits through standard doors. I never take it in our car. It has a wide and complicated fold. The other con is that I wish the canopy were larger (although it is much larger than the Mountain Buggy canopy), but newer versions have the EX canopy whish is supposed to be much bigger.
Bottom line, if you are outdoors and need a rugged stroller that can handle all sorts of terrain, this is it.
I highly recommend the footmuff and the cupholder! Valcos rock!
