What would you like to know about vampires? Go on, ask anything... This is a question that begs for more questions, not answers.

Asking someone what they want to know about vampires is like asking the question-- "What do you want to know about life?" The "answers" are infinite and perpetually changing. Knowing this, I would merely ask to know about the history of vampires, past, present, and even future speculations. I know you've already written a rather comprehensive take on the subject matter. It would be great to read more spin-offs from that idea.

I've posted my collection of questions in the "Discussion" area because this "Answers" section seems to find me too long-winded. So here is my very long list : http://www.lunch.com/TheVampireHistorians/Forums-Vampire_Traits_and_Tropes-85-410-1-1.html

Perhaps we can discuss the origins of some of the mythologies behind the vampire myth--sort of discussing your write up. It would also be fun to talk about the changes made in vampire storytelling because of the evolution of our society--good example would be the popularity of TRUE BLOOD.

Okay, I have this super long list of tropes and traits that I'm sorting through for my own vampires. (Vulnerable to sunlight? Garlic? Needing invitations before entering a house? etc.) My question is, can I post it here? It's a *lot* of questions but it might be kind of fun to get everyone's' input. If not that, I do have one simple question: What do you think is the one enduring or defining trait that all vampires share, cross-culturally, cross-media?

Author & Actor influences -- with the TV series Moonlight, vamps walking around in the daytime and crosses having no effect, and then the vampire laughs and says Hollywood made these up was cute. But now we have them sparkling and playing a mean game of baseball. I'd like to know what major changes from the original myths hath Hollywood wrot?

One aspect of the vampire legend is the one-time scourge of the European world, the Mongols. The legend of the centaur comes from the Mongols on horseback and when food was short a Mongol soldier would open a vein on their horse and drink the blood.
