Entertaining Commercials But I Prefer the Cable Guy

In my town we are bombarded constantly by commercial where a poor red headed bearded cable guy is frustrated by the Verizon FIOS guy with every turn he takes.  Whether it is the package that his company is offering or the quality of the television reception, he is a loser all around.  In just about every commercial, the cable guy is so totally defeated that he resorts to all kinds of childish pranks such as pushing all the buttons in an elevator or breaking into the Verizon guy's apartment or just following the Verizon guy around.

I find the cable guy much more entertaining than the serious Verizon FIOS guy and always root (though I know it's a lost cause) for him to stymie the Verizon guy just once.  Heck, even the Trix rabbit got to eat Trix once and a while.

As to the service, there is no comparison.  The Verizon service rarely goes out, unlike the prior Cablevision servce I had.  Verizon offers way more extra channels for each service subscribed to (ex. I get about 20 HBO channels) and provides free on demand for any channel I subscribe to (Cablevision charges $5 a channel).  In fact the on-demand feature eliminates the need for Tivo.

Cablevision once cut off Yankee games for all their customers for an entire season because of some dispute they had with the team and never did anything for their subscribers (Yankee games are one of the major reason I get pay tv).  I constantly get the Cablevision guy coming to my home to try and sell me service and I always ask him about free on-demand and when is Cablevision going to do something for me for that lost Yankee season and he just shakes his head and leave with his head between his tail like the cable guy on the commercial.

Excellent review. I don't have Fios TV because my wife and I don't watch all that much TV but we have Fios Internet and digital phone and they are also superb. Should we ever decide to upgrade to digital cable it will definitely be Verizon.
