I think the world of veterinarians. I have had perhaps a dozen cats over the years and I rely on the vet to keep my pet happy and as healthy as possible. Each time I visit the vet's office I marvel at the dedication, competence and compassion demonstrated by everyone in the office. These folks just seem to love what they do and I cannot imagine what animal lovers everywhere would do without them.
Things sure are different at the vets office these days. Years ago veterinarians really were engaged in the business of treating sick and injured animals. A noble calling for sure but today many vets also have a passion for holistic and preventive pet healthcare. Although it is more expensive this proactive approach helps to ward off problems before they happen. And as a result our pets are living happier, healthier lives.
So the next time you bring your pet to the vet take a moment to acknowledge the tremendous work they do each and every day. Sure there are incompetent and unethical vets out there and yes mistakes are made by even the best of them. But at the end of the day I have found that most vets and their staffs do yeoman work and really do deserve our thanks and appreciation. Very highly recommended!
