SummerSlam (2011) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by WWE that took place on August 14, 2011. For the third consecutive year, SummerSlam was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California,^[2]^[3]^[4] and it was the 24th annual SummerSlam event.^[5] Six matches were originally scheduled for the event, but a seventh was added during the show when Alberto Del Rio cashed in his "Money in the Bank" briefcase and defeated CM Punk. It was later announced that SummerSlam attracted a sellout crowd of 17,404 fans at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, grossing more than $1 million. This marks the highest grossing SummerSlam ever held at the Staples Center. The event however garnered only 301,000 PPV buys, down from 350,000 buys the previous years. ^[6]

Finally the biggest party of the summer felt like it.

I doubt it's a secret that Summer Slam hasn't been truly outstanding in a very long time, with the last three years or so delivering sub-par events. WWE once again focuses on the wrestling aspect. I have to admit that the show is a lot easier to get through on DVD than it was on PPV, since we had to sit through music shows. WWE SUMMERSLAM 2011 Spoilers 1. THE MIZ, R-TRUTH, ALBERTO DEL RIO VS REY MYSTERIO, JOHN MORRISON, KOFI KINGSTON-right here we had a great opening match pitting three of my favorite guys in Miz, Truth and Del Rio going at it against the baby faces they were semi feuding against prior to this.
