An average German pilsner

No surprises at any point with this beer. The pour produces a modest pure white head which dissipates quickly leaving no lacing. Carbonation is moderate but lasts pleasantly for the entire length of time it takes to polish off the glass. Colour is a very pleasant, very light gold and exceptionally clear with absolutely no hint of cloudiness at all.

The flavour, nicely balanced between sweetness and the bitterness of the hops, has a pleasant sensation of carbonation on the drinking.

While this beer has nothing sensational to say for itself to make it stand out from a very crowded international field, neither has it any detractions such as aftertaste, skunkiness or undue bitterness. At 4.9% alcohol/volume, this is a very pleasant session beer that would be, on balance, a good crowd pleaser at a summer barbecue, for example.

Many similar lagers and pilsners come to mind to give an idea of flavour - Asahi, Urquell, Peroni, Warsteiner, Bittburger, Steamwhistle and even Canada's mass-produced giant, Labatt's Blue.

At the risk of damning with faint praise - nondescript but overall pleasant.
