There comes a point in your life when it's just too long and doesn't stay up anymore. I'm talking about hair of course. I like to stiffen it up with hairspray, but it kept going limp. So it was time for a haircut.
Since I just recently moved to Sherman Oaks, I searched Yelp (sorry Lunch!) for good places to cut men's hair. Whackos was one of the places that came up. It had an average of 4 stars, wasn't pricey, and only a few miles from my place. I checked out their website, and decided to give them a call.
Anna, the owner, was the one who did my hair. She was wonderful. She was friendly, welcoming, and really energetic. Her little shop is decorated with bright colors and superheroes from Batman. She really worked with me on what I wanted to do with my hair. You could tell she knew what she was doing with a modern flare.
I also told her about this one comment on Yelp about Noe just kind of doing his own thing when cutting hair. It turns out that he is hard of hearing, and tries to hide it. It's not that he is trying to ignore your comments, but he is 95% deaf in one ear. So make sure you speak up a little bit when getting a haircut from him. I hear he's actually really good with men's cuts.
Usually I have to come home and touch up on my hair after a haircut, but this time I didn't have to. I walked out completely happy. I felt welcomed, and didn't feel intimidated here like I do at some high-end salons. My hair cut was only $30 including tip. I don't get my hair cut very often, but I will definitely be coming back here in the future.
